8 things do to with your preschooler
Time goes so fast! before you know it your children are out the door in the world by themselves, time is precious, and preschool years are the best! children are willing to do almost anything with you and you have to make the time. i believe if you invest time in your children, when your older they will invest time in you!
1.
.Bake together
It's so much fun and as we homeschoolers think how we can turn this into something educational there is lots of ways! There is math in measurements, There is division in cupcakes, not to mention fine motor skills and following instructions ie the recipe! all great skills. Why not find a good cupcake recipe a simple white cake is good, bake it together then whip up some frosting, my kids spent hours decorating cupcakes with frosting and candies, then us moms can have a cuppa and enjoy!
2.
paint faces and role play!
The best thing you can invest in is a good face painting kit! you can be anybody without spending ridiculous amounts of dough on costumes, cos lets face it kids grow and costumes well.....dont! but we always have face paints!
Here is one of my monkeys, littereally. face painted moneky ! ready for tree climbing, so much more fun when your in charactor!
3.
Have a tickle fight!
just hanging out in bed is fun, but turn it into a tickle fight is hilarious! you have heard laughter is the best medicine but i think the laughter of children is the best everything! when im feeling blue or its just one of those days, cheer everyone up by tickling each other to death!! muahaha.
4.
Teach your children about giving to the less fortunate
Now we told our children about kids who don't have any toys and there little hearts broke inside or something as they gathered up a lot, now i mean a lot of their toys after Christmas and made some kids really happy!
living in Guatemala there is no site short of poverty, around every corner there is someone in need so the importance of teaching your children how to help, or how to make someone happy is a great valuable lesson!
5.
Play with THEIR toys!
A lot of the time we buy toys for our kids and let them get on with it, But in our busy lives its imporant to make time just for them, now i have boys so we play with action figures, footballs, and monster chasing games! but you could easily trade it in with barbies, easy bake ovens, or... whatever you girls play with! but make sure your playing! and not sitting or observing
here is a scenario that we did playing with action figures, funnily enough the cast of kung fu panda are actually Mcdonalds toys! who says good toys are expensive eh!
Kung fu Panda Vs Avengers
6.
POOL FUN!
We all love to swim! take your tots to the local pool or outside pool if your blessed like us, to go the the beach house and have fun! throw them in go diving, pretend to fish, learn to swim. the list is endless but its got to be done!
7.
Photobooth!
This is great fun, we went with abuelo (granddad) any chance you get to go in one of these with your kids make sure you do! At the mall you could make agreements like if you let mommy go shopping we will photobooth later!
8.
Draw on your body!!
Let your tots get the pens out washable ofcourse and doodle, my kids wanted to do this at first because of mommys tattoos, and they made their own tattoos! I did these doodles on their feet for fathers day! if you have enough feet you could spell allsorts of things, this is framed and packaged...perfect fathers day gift!
Don't forget to enjoy your children while there young!
have fun :)

Why Homeschool?
A sunny day in September 2011 started out like any other day, Sent the kids off to preschool and had the baby next to me while i work on the computer, around 10 i get a phone school from hubs, an accident has happened in school. With my younger child Nicholas.
At first i was angry, i cannot deny i punched the wall! Why does this happen to us? (just around the same time the previous year Nicky caught influenza and was hospitalized at a different preschool) i get my things together and my hubs picks me up to get the kids from school. We arrive to see a very upset little boy with 2 missing teeth. what happened? a boy from his class pushed him down the slide he landed face first on the floor and his teeth came out.
The commutation between teacher and us has always been brief, Nicky did good today, have a nice day, good day! have a nice weekend.. always the same report in his agenda! not until teacher parent day would we find out Nicky was having trouble with this other boy. So we picked up both children and took Nicky to the dentist, got his teeth fixed and went for lunch and ice cream. Sitting at lunch me and hubs spoke about the event. And decided that we both felt the urge to home school. The strong feeling you get inside when you know the Lord wants you to do something, We felt this was the right thing to do. And from that day on the kids never went back to school!
So why do we home school?
We home school because we followed orders! Though we had to suffer and find out the hard way this was the path the Lord has for our children.
The first few months were hard, we didn't do school but just relaxed at home getting the feel of what all of us in the house all day would feel like. The kids thought they had extended vacations. We explained what we are going to do and the name Mami school caught on quick! Till today almost a year after we are still saying "Time for mommy school!"

Do your childrens doodles really tell you something?
Children's drawings are visual representations made with crayons, markers, or pencils that are generated for pleasure but can also be used for therapeutic purposes or developmental assessment
My eldest son who is 6 lately has a crayon on paper all of his waking moments, he really has found pleasure in simple art, his drawings vary from animals to places, a lot of volcanoes and characters from cartoons. after looking at a few drawings i decided im never going to throw these out! there must be more than a 100 pages front and back covered in his adorable doodles. But do they mean something? is there a message inside of his drawings that can tell me more about him?
Art therapy has become popular and is gradually gaining a formal recognition in Singapore in recent years. Counselors, therapists and psychologists are beginning to employ drawings done by children to understand their subconscious mind at work.
Im still searching for the meanings if any, but meantime take a look at some of his creations!
Clearly a volcano spewing out orange lava by the load! however no smoke or destruction going on pretty calm sunny skies too! im pretty sure this is just a clear expression of an interest in volcano's!
Joshua told me this one is handy many! one of his favorite shows on tv. recently we got them all the tools so his interest has being an interactive role playing game.
The other day we saw palm trees on our trip to the beach, and ever since he was intrigued.
a picture of a girl with brown hair and yellow eyes, i read somewhere that a drawing without pupils is a course for concern so shall look more into this one
